Possibly a migration from HIGH ERCALL to PREES Shropshire after the 1589 marriage of THOMAS PACE to JANE ARNEWEY. There were Paces at High Ercall and other surnames connected to Pace. The towns of RODDINGTON, WROCKWARDINE & WELLINGTON are about 6 or 8 miles apart in SHROPSHIRE and are in the north west area of the present day town of TELFORD. PREES is about 12 miles north.

PACE families at PREES In early 1600s - there appears RICHARD, ROWLAND and GRIFFITH PACE registered as fathers in St.Chad's parish registers at Prees. The two RICHARDS may be the same person.

There are 48 entrys for PACE Christenings in St. Chads parish register at Prees, Shropshire I've arranged the Christening entrys by birth date and father, an attempt to realize the possible family structure. This may not be 100% accurate, but gives an idea of descendency of PACE families from PREES. Notice that Gideon had entrys from Dec 1645 to Jan 1682 so there may have been two Gideons. I've included the father's name from each Christening entry, in case it's position in a family is in error as the Richard and Rowland may have been the same person, in the early 1600s.

DESTINATIONS in 1670's TIME FRAME Both JOHNS Christened in early 1650's, one JOHN fits JOHN & ANN in Christening JOHN PACE 24 Feb 1675-76 at HODNET Shropshire while the other JOHN fits parents JOHN & JONE of Christening JOHN PACE 25 Jan 1675 at WELLINGTON Shropshire. Take your pick - I think they both fit. see - HODNET page The problem remains, their father JOHN could not be the same JOHN PACE and the JOHN PACE Chr. 1637 would be too young (abt 13) to be their father - to my thinking - so more wonderment and speculation is appropriate. It's ABSOLUTELY neccessary to collect ALL PACE Christening entrys in surrounding Shropshire parishes to make an suitable ASSUMPTION about parentage of these two JOHNS Chr at 20 Oct 1650 and 3 Oct 1651 at Prees, both with father JOHN PACE If you have a theory on this assumption, please offer your ideas..
