The eariest COTTERILL I have found so far on my husband's tree is
MATTHEW Cotterill who was baptised on 1 April 1771 at SEIGHFORD, Staffordshire.
His parents were WILLIAM Cotterill and Mary HODGE, who married on 14 February 1770 at HAUGHTON, Staffordshire.

MATTHEW married Margaret MOORE at St. Mary's Church, STAFFORD and they had 11 children, 7 girls and 4 boys. Their eldest child WILLIAM, whose line we take, married Ellen BUTLER on 6 February 1827 in Stafford and had four children, William, Edwin, Matthew and Emma.
Matthew married Rosanna FLOWERS and they also had 4 children. Ellen, William, Emma and Matthew. Matthew, Rosanna and their children Emma and William moved to Birmingham sometime before the 1881 census. Their other son, Matthew, joined the army. William and Martha were supposed to have had 23 children, but to date I have only found 6. If any of this means anything to other Cotterills, please let me know.
