and related surnames - of north Shropshire area showing a migration to Staffordshire, Australia, etc. GTPace - Webmaster - with thanks to Jenny McGrail of Sydney, Shawn Clutton of Whitchurch, and others
In my ongoing collection of PACE Family Records, trying to learn about my origins and ancestors, now date back to about the year 1600. They were from PREES, WELLINGTON, WROCKWARDINE, HIGH ERCALL in early 1600's, later spreading out to WHITCHURCH, MARKET DRAYTON, SHERIFF HALES, SHIFNAL and much beyond.
I'm fortunate to receive correspondence from others also researching the PACE Family and RELATED surnames. Our COMBINED work and POSTING HERE - with your permission and direction - may help uncover information we are all looking for. OTHER SURNAMES help a great deal. - GTPace - webmaster |

Witnesses Hannah TURNER & William CALTRUTH - (CUTHBERT)A search of WEM parish registers may reveal a TURNER - HAMLET connection considering at WEM 1 Apr 1797, Jane TURNER & Richard PACE married.
Later, Mary HAMLET born at WEM 18 Apr 1816 married Richard PACE, 10 Jul 1841 son of Jane TURNER and Richard PACE
Seven months later, at TILSTOCK, Mary PACE, daughter of Jane TURNER & Richard PACE marries William SUMNER.
NOTE - Hannah TURNER is a witness at this second marriage - this makes me wonder about possible TURNER - HAMLET connections at WEM.

I have seen the burial records of several children of these families and FANNY PACE, aged 81 (b 1759 ?) who died in the Alms House, Whitchurch 24 Feb 1840. She is probably the widow of PARKINSON. I will hunt for Johns death to confirm his age.
Jenny in Australia notes -
I have proved there are 2 families of RICHARD & JANE, but as yet I havent located the second marriage and my assumption about the end of one family and the start of the second is also open for review. My proof is the 1841 census which shows that there is one family at TILSTOCK which is about 2 miles south of WHITCHURCH and where the first children are born.
The SECOND FAMILY is resident at Havannah Buildings, DODINGTON, (Whitchurch) ( now part of Whitchurch itself). The remaining children are born there and some are still there in the 1881 census.
There is one child born at CHEMISTRY, another small hamlet just to the north west of Whitchurch and now also part of that town, I believe this is the first of the second family who must have then moved into the Havannah Building. This couple may have moved into the area from elsewhere, if we can locate a 'Richard' born abt 1803. (He cannot be the father of Mary 1814 or Richard 1817)
There is also a JOHN PACE, aged 50, (b 1791 ? ) resident in DODINGTON who is a Tailor. I think perhaps he is the son of PARKINSON PACE & Frances WILLIAMS and is really older than stated on the Census.
