4 JAMES PACE b 1666 CHARLES CITY Co VA - d 1727 NC
+ ELIZABETH LOWE d/o WILLIAM LOWE who d 4/1722 ALBEMARLE Co VA. He owned 1584 acres in PRINCE GEORGE Co VA
For many years Pace Society of America members listed ELIZABETH LOWE as the wife of JOHN PACE, son of RICHARD and MARY PACE, however, in 1998 Bruce Howard published "Our Colonial Ancestors 1619-1799" on page 122 he gives argument that Elizabeth Lowe was the wife of JAMES PACE.

George Pace was old enough to own land in 1715 and probably married about that time. The deed below is what George Pace's approximate birthyear of c1693-1694 is based on (assuming age 21 in 1715).

12 Mar 1715 -- 121 acres Bristol Parish, Prince George Co., VA -- George Pace, Planter, to John West, Carpenter for five shillings Sterling; George Pace signed his mark "G P"
(Prince George County, Virginia, Deeds, Etc., 1713-1728, pt. 1, p.100-101).

07 Dec 1717 -- 150 acres, Bristol Parish, Prince George County, VA -- William Lowe of the Province of North Carolina to George Pace of Prince George in the Colony of Virginia for the sum of five shillings Sterling -- "Begining on Monksneck Creek at the mouth of the Deep Bottom Branch, thence up the said Branch to the Head Line thence along the said Head Line to the Green Branch and Down the Green Branch to the said Monksneck Creek to the place began", being the "plantation where Pace now dwells"
(Prince George County, Virginia, Deeds, Etc. 1713-1728, pt. 1, p.215-216)

"With his [Lowe] uncles, George Pace went up to dispose of land in Prince George County, Virginia after the death of his grandfather William Lowe in 1720. He signed the deed "G.P." The same "G.P." appears on the deed of 1717 and on deeds he later gave in North Carolina.
( THE PACE FAMILY, 1607-1750, p.123. )

"In 1727, about the time his father John [Pace] died, George [Pace] started putting together a large plantation. He obtained several adjoining grants on the east side of Elk Marsh Creek, south of the Roanoke River. This property adjoined that of his uncle, William Lowe."

Pace DNA Study - 9/8/03

The results of the Pace DNA Study thus far seem quite confusing, at least in regard to those who believe they descend from Richard Pace of Jamestown through his grandson, Richard Pace II b. abt 1638.

As shown on the Results website PACE DNA Results these people fall into two groups, group 3 and group 4 with 6 test subjects in the first and 5 in the second. Most in the second group believe they descend from the John Pace b. abt. 1732 who m. Sarah Burgh.

As Roy has explained, the differences in the results for these two groups indicates that they are not closely related, so only one group could be descended from Richard Pace of Jamestown, but which one?
