        ROY JOHNSON comments
"If you are not familiar with that massacre-a group of Union soldiers were on leave after the Battle of Atlanta and were returning to their homes by train, unarmed. "Bloody Bill" Anderson had occupied Centralia and was tearing up the railroad tracks when the train came in. The guerillas took the soldiers off the train and slaughtered them all except for one sergeant, whom they hoped to exchange for some of their prisoners held by the union. The sergeant's account has been made into a small book with the names of all who were killed".
