John PACE
and
Elizabeth

For many years Pace Society of America members listed ELIZABETH LOWE as the wife of JOHN PACE, son of RICHARD and MARY PACE, however, in 1998 Bruce Howard published "Our Colonial Ancestors 1619-1799" on page 122 he gives argument that Elizabeth Lowe was the wife of JAMES PACE. One thing we can be sure of is that JOHN, the son of RICHARD and MARY was not John Pace of Middlesex County Virginia
who's, wife was Elizabeth.

Her surname never proven, but many lean toward NEWSOME.

JOHN of MIDDLESEX page
The Edward "Neddie" Pace, who was the great grandfather of the Charles Pace who m. Alatha Moore, was a son of William Henry Pace, Sr. b. 10/10/1745 in Goochland Co, VA, d. 1815 in Scott Co, VA, m. Mary Wineinger in 1774, probably in Albemarle Co, VA. William Henry was a son of John H. Pace and Susanna Houchins.

John are you related to the Evans who married Paces in Goochland and Fluvanna County? John Pace who married Susannah Houchins was the John who gave land for Lyles Church, his dau. Mary married William Baskett who was second preacher at Lyles. I show a daug. of William, Susannah, married 1st. Jackson Bellamy and 2nt Tarleton Evans, any Kin? It has come to front that William was with Washington during Rev. War. I am currently putting together a book for the Goochland Historical Society and any thing you have would be welcome.

John Evans questioned whether the John Pace on the 1782 Fluvanna Co, VA census was the John Pace who was the son of William Pace and Hannah Booten, as I had suggested. It looks like John is right and I was wrong. The John on the 1782 census definitely appears to be the John H. Pace who married Susannah Houchins. Although he was about 60 he still had about 3 children living in the household and he was clearly in Fluvanna Co at that time. I do think the other John was there at that time too - perhaps he was just missed in the census.

His son Tarleton Pace was still in Fluvanna Co. from 1806 - 1810.

While everyone is looking at John Pace's in Fluvann County I'm hoping someone might have something on my grgrandfather John R. Pace, b 1803 m.Elizabeth? His children were John Walker Pace b.1843,(my grandfather) James S. Pace b.1845,William H.Pace b.1848,Francis A.Pace and possibly R.A.Pace ? These names are listed on an old deed to land in Fluvanna which was passed down to me and which I still own.I have found a cousin in Charlottesville who thinks the R.A.Pace, May be his grgrandfather Richard A.Pace.The property where he lived was in the Cunningham district and joined that of a R.M.Houchins. It has been in my family since 1822 according to my Mother Vera Walker b1893,d 1979.I cant seem to get past John R. Pace.
