Hello the list
Although I have only one connection to MOUNTFORD through a HOROBIN of mine. I have been sent a MOUNTFORD tree from a dear lady of 82, for the areas of Cheddleton & Leek with info. of different kinds ranging from 1204- 1970s. There are so many names I shall put them all on the computer over the next few weeks and create a Gedcom. I can't vouch for the complete accuracy of this tree of course! In the meantime here is a list of names of people who married these Mountfords within the different time frames. 1600s: Jane BUXTON, Margaret BLINCOMBE, Ann WAG, Ann GOODWIN, Lydia CONDLIFFE, Wiiliam HEATH.

1700s: Richard WOOD, Sarah PYOTT, Margaret WRIGHT, Elizabeth widow of Thomas POTTS, Samuel CLOWES of Macclesfield in Cheshire, Mary FYNNEY, Thomas PALMER, John BRADDOCK, John GOULD, Thomas ROGERS, ? KNIGHTON, Ann HULME, Anne BARNES, William BIRCHALL(offspring of Birchall marr. BRADLEY, DIXON-VARE), Joseph BILLINGS(offspring of Billings marr GIBSON, ROBINSON, YATES, MELLOR)

1800s: Ann NIXON, Robert PIMLOTT, James WOOD, Mary WARD, William JOHNSON(chemist), Enoch HILL, Elizabeth DAY, Prudence FISHER, ? HASSALL, Ellen HOROBIN.

1900s: Henrietta CLIFFE or OLIFFE, Joseph LEEDHAM, I have left out later names of people who may still be living. Some Mountfords went to South Africa, South Australia, one lot in Bridgend in Wales. Thirteen dates of wills probated. Hope this helps someone.

Hello all on the List

I'm new to this list and hope someone out there can help me.

I am seeking any information on a John & Hannah BROCKLEY. John, aged 29 in the 1881 census was born in Whitehill Staffs. Hannah at Kidsgrove. Their son is listed as John BIRCHALL aged 9. At the time of the 1881 census, they lived at Brewhouse Bank, Wolstanton.

I cannot find any Whitehill, or Wolstanton in our AA directory and the only Kidsgrove is a ski centre.

Can anyone please tell me where these towns might have been and what they are now called.

Many thanks
, Lois
